Set sail on the expansive, fresh waters of Lake Michigan aboard Tamerlane; a classic, 1960s wooden boat that’s brimming with charm.
Available for private charters up to 6 passengers, Tamerlane offers a unique sailing experience that can be crafted to meet your group’s vision. Whether it’s helping to hoist the sails alongside our friendly crew, or simply taking in the views while sipping on a glass of wine – we can’t wait to offer you a memorable cruise out on the water.

ITINERARY
After departing from the Red Dock in Douglas, we will follow the winding Kalamazoo River before setting sail on Lake Michigan. Once on the lake, we will set our course and sail along the beautiful shore line.
PARKING
We have a large parking lot available just steps away from the dock.
AGE LIMITS
Since this is a private sailing experience, we are able to sail with all ages. Please note that any child under the age of 6 must wear a life jacket at all times due to US Coast Guard rules. We provide age appropriate life jackets, but feel free to bring your own.
BATHROOM FACILITIES
Tamerlane is equipped with a small bathroom (aka “head’) that is fairly rudimentary.
PETS
Unfortunately due to Tamerlane’s wooden construction, dogs can easily scratch the deck and varnished finishes. We love dogs but it’s better if they stay home for your sail.
FOOD AND DRINK
BYOB! Feel free to bring along whatever you like to eat and drink on board. We keep a cooler full of ice on board for your use as well as a modest stock of other useful items like a corkscrew/bottle opener, disposable utensils, cups, etc.
STAYING WARM
It’s a good idea to bring an extra layer of clothing since it’s often a few degrees cooler on the water.
RIVER CRUISE OPTION
Sometimes the weather in on Lake Michigan can be a bit unpredictable. In the case of high wind and waves on Lake Michigan, we’re able to extend the river cruise portion to avoid cancelling your cruise altogether.
WEATHER CANCELLATION
The captain or crew will be in touch on the day of your sail if it looks like we’ll have to cancel. If that’s the case then you’ll have the option to reschedule or take a 100% refund.
NO SAILING EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
The captain and crew will take care of sailing the boat. However we love when our guests help out with the sails or even take the helm!
